What makes a tape "export-grade" in practice?

Nothing about the tape itself, it is about what the carton is asked to survive. An export carton is handled more times than a domestic one, is often stacked under load, and is frequently packed fuller than the box was designed for. Two catalogue facts answer that directly. Kraft paper tape is listed specifically for export packing, because it provides strong adhesion and tear resistance, making it suitable for heavy or overfilled cartons: an overfilled carton keeps the flaps under outward load, and a tape that splits along its length is what you are designing against. Filament tape is a self-adhesive tape specially designed for applications requiring a high breaking strength, with woven glass fibres reinforcing the backing, so in heavy packaging it can replace metal and polypropylene strapping. How do you replace metal strapping on a palletised load?

This is the question export packers ask us most often, because metal strap is awkward: it needs tools, it cuts hands, it damages cartons at the corners and it has to be disposed of at the far end. The catalogue lists filament tape for packing of heavy-weight cartons, for palletising, for strapping, and for sealing of metal coils and pipe bundling, and states that its woven glass fibre reinforcement makes it strong enough to replace metal and polypropylene strapping to great advantage. Can the carton be marked for export on the tape itself?

Yes. "For Export" is one of the standard message tapes in our catalogue, alongside "Handle with Care", "OK TESTED" and "Fine Quality PVC Pipes". Printing the instruction on the sealing tape means it is applied by the same motion that closes the carton, so it cannot be skipped on a busy shift, and it stays readable along the full length of the joint after a label has been scuffed in handling. If you want your own wording, consignee code or brand instead, printed BOPP tape carries company logos and messages in up to 5 colours, with reverse printing and half-tone options. Will the tape fit your packing line and your reel sizes?

Every reel we despatch carries its full advertised length: stated because a short-wound reel is a real problem in export packing, where the tape needed per carton has been calculated in advance.
